Event filled month, I guess.

Partially event filled anyway, apparently my understanding of filled involves 2 events.  Our 6th anniversary is on Saturday and then my birthday is at the end of the month.  Totally going to get sushi on saturday, so looking forward to it.   We’re actually going to go there for dinner this time, which is a change of pace for us since we’re cheap and lunch prices are nice, hahaha.   Man, six years.  That just sounds nuts.  Its just hard to believe that we’ve been together for so long, it doesn’t even feel like its been that long.  I’m not sure if that’s good or bad.  Saturday will be nice.

Don’t have much plans for my birthday.  Probably just hang out with my family, maybe we’ll go out somewhere and do something, we’ll see.  There really isn’t a whole bunch to do in the area unless you plan on getting trashed and that’s not us.  Again, we’ll see if anything comes up.

I haven’t really being doing much lately besides going to work and agonizing over my Carleton University application, which surprisingly takes up more time than one would think.  We saw Zombieland which was freaking hilarious.  And watching various anime and/or tv shows via crunchyroll and other means.  Which brings me to my next rambling point.

Coffee Prince.  Its a Korean drama/comedy from 2007.  Short version:  lead is a female mistaken( yes that is a girl, front and centre)  as a boy and maintains boy identity to get decent paying work so she can help support her family and save money for her sister to go to college.  Male lead opens a coffee shop and lead female works there and he starts to become charmed by her, going into crazy turmoil about himself, since he only knows her as a man.  Hilarity and lots of drama ensue.

Its all subbed on crunchyroll, which is cool.  I was hooked after the first episode.  It really seamed to avoid the pitfalls of a lot of the “gender-bender” genre tends to quickly fall into.  For those unfamiliar, gender-bender refers to a genre with the main character being mistaken for the opposite gender, either on purpose or accident.

Its a really charming show.  To start off its funny, you can’t go wrong with a dose of good humor.  The initial episodes draw you into the characters and sets it up nicely that you want to see what happens to them and their growth and development goes along nicely.  And like most things in Korean cinema and television, the melodrama comes a’ flowin’.  I’m not going to lie, I teared up quite a few times.  I mean, I wasn’t just bawling like I was in Windstruck, but there were definite tears, I’m such a sap, lol.  So overall, great show.  It has its moments where it follows the typical drama lines, but it can be easily overlooked.  I think this was the first Korean show I’ve ever watched, though I’ve seen a ton of korean movies.

So if you want to laugh and cry a little, but eventually come out with a happy ending, then Coffee Prince is for you.
